Tips for party season safety

So the party season is here, we will all be going to at least one office or works christmas party or social event. Here's a few tips to ensure you enjoy it safely.
Plan how you will get there and home again before you set off.
If you don't have a designated driver who will be giving you a lift to the party and home again then pre book/pre pay taxi's with a reputable hire company, get the drivers name and/or registration of the car and check this when the taxi arrives. A reputable company will not mind you doing this at all, most will welcome it.If you can't pre book/pay for your taxi home then put aside some cash in a seperate pocket of your handbag/purse so you know what its there for and it doesn't get accidentaly spent leaving you with no cash to get home.
If you are travelling by public transport then plan your journey before you set off, get train/bus times and make sure you know when the last ones are so you dont miss your last transport home. At the party:
Usually at these events, the alcohol is flowing, so pace yourself. Try alternating between an alcoholic drink and a soft drink this way you will still be clear headed all evening. Try not to leave your drink unnatended ,if you go to the toilet or to dance and are unsure get a fresh drink.You can buy lovelly drink charms that go around the stem of a glass or the neck of a bottle so you can see instantly which glass/bottle is your own. It is good to mingle at these events and talk to lots of different people, but if you have arranged to go/leave with a group of friends, keep an eye on them too and check in with them throughout the evening, and make sure you stick to your travel arrangements. It is good to let our hair down and have fun over the festive season but please remember to stay safe too. |
