By Hellan Bach of Herpuniverse.com/forum
crystal remedies, crystals and the elements, natures gems and jewelry. what is a crystal remedy?? Crystal gem remedies are made from water infused with a crystals energy which can be ingested or applied. The water is first infused by the sun or moon. They help to restore physical or emotional health and promote spiritual growth. These remedies can be used over a period of time to help in ongoing conditions. Crystal infused remedies can be taken in a variety of ways: 5 drops in a glass of water twice daily, a couple of drops taken neat under the tongue, applied to pulse points or added to bath water. Please be aware certain crystals will leach out metals or other toxic substances so should NOT be used, these include Mohawkite and Regalor ( Arsenic) Psiomelan (barium) Cinnabar (Mercury) However most other crystals are safe to use. Ok now we will look at how to make a remedy and which crystals are best to choose. So for your remedy you will need : a crystal of your choice, a small bowl, distilled or mineral water, brandy and a dark coloured glass storage bottle. First pick a light source, if using the sun you will need a minimum of three hours, if using the moon, remember to make the remedy between the new and full moon. Place your chosen crystal in the bowl of water to charge in the rays of the sun or moonlight, leave until sunrise if using the moon or at least three hours if using the sun. Decant the water into the glass bottle until it is half full and top up with the brandy. Don't forget to label the jar with the date made, light source, crystal used and what it was made for. Properly stored remedies will keep for up to three years!! So which crystal to choose??? some examples are: Agate: used for general health Amethyst: used for alcoholism and boosting immunity Aventurine: used for skin conditions, sunburn and negative emotions Beryl: used for confidence boosting Bloodstone: used for circulatory problems and insecurity Malachite: used for menstrual cramps, pms Onyx: used for weak bones, impatience Quartz : used for protection from negative influences, general well being Tigers eye : used for eye problems, fear of success. Crystals are deeply linked to the elements, from their creation to their potency in use in rituals and healing. Crystals are formed from the elements through the varying processes of air, fire, water and earth. The heat generated by fire, the pressure by earth and the chemical reactions or air and water. There is also what some consider to be the fifth element that of ether or spirit, which is thought to bond all the other elements together, through its life force and growth. Most crystals can be categorized into one of the four elemental groups. Water crystals are thought to aid transitions between the conscious and unconscious mind and dreaming. Water crystals include: Amethyst, Aquamarine, Beryl,Moonstone,Pearl and Tourmaline. Air crystals are thought to aid in formulating concepts and ideas, planning and descision making. Air crystals include, Agate, Chalcedony,Kunzite,Lapis lazuli,Opal,Rose quartz,Sapphire,Sodalite and Turquoise. Earth crystals are thought to aid in developing patience and perseverance and a good grounding in setting goals. Earth crystals include Aventurine,,Emerald,Jadite,Jet,Magnetite,Malachite,Onyx,Smoky quartz. Fire crystals are thought to aid in making positive changes and positive thought. Fire crystals include Amber,Calcite,Citrine quartz,Garnet,Bloodstone,Obsidian,Pyrite,Ruby,Spinel,Topaz. As well as crystals, nature provides other "gems" that have been used for centuries in amulets and talismans, these are Coral,Ivory and Bone. Coral has been popular since ancient roman times when twigs of red coral were tied to cradles and coral pendants made for children. It was believed to ward off evil spirits and keep children safe, this tradition is still seen today in some Arab countries and throughout the Mediterranean, where fresh coral is tied to fruit and olive trees to ensure a good harvest. Other gems found in nature and worn as jewelry and charms are Ivory and bone, However it is of note to understand responsibility when using such items and to know where these items came from. New ivory and bone is now banned from trade and coral should only be sourced from sustainable places. Since early humans discovered crystals, they have tied them to pieces of leather thong or metal chains to wear for there magical properties. This developed through time and in some cultures wearing crystals was seen as a status symbol, and adapted by various faiths. In 17th century England a new style of jewelry was introduced called Acrostoc. This meant using the first letter of a crystal to spell out words, however a couple of "cheats" had to be used to ensure a full alphabet. Jade was renamed "Yu" (its Chinese name) and "hyacinth" for zircon. Popular acrostics were "Hope" (Hyacinth, Opal,Pearl,Emerald) and Charity (Cats eye,Hyacinth,Aquamarine,Ruby,Iolite,Topaz, Yu). When using crystal jewelry it is important to consider how the settings may balance or antidote you Chakra's.
